Kalo Scaling

1.What is Kalo Scaling?

1.1 Background

In an era of rapidly evolving LED display technologies and increasingly interconnected multi-screen applications, from immersive entertainment experiences to dynamic live events and collaborative environments, the pursuit of exceptional visual quality has become a shared priority across the industry. In response to this growing demand, we are proud to introduce Kalo Scaling—an advanced image downscaling technology designed to deliver exceptional image clarity, smooth visual transitions, and flexible control, ensuring consistently refined and extraordinarily impressive visual results.

Developed by our Central Research Institute and released in May 2024, Kalo Scaling is a high-fidelity image downscaling algorithm engineered to preserve image detail and clarity during resolution reduction. Based on user-defined scaling ratios, it precisely resizes images while significantly improving perceived sharpness and effectively suppressing common downscaling artifacts, including stair-step aliasing, high-frequency aliasing, and random noise. Compared with previous-generation scaling technologies, Kalo Scaling delivers a substantial leap in downscaling quality and overall visual performance.

1.2 Key Features of Kalo Scaling

●High-Quality Downscaling:

Kalo Scaling easily handles complex details and delicate textures while supporting arbitrary scaling ratios. It preserves intricate image details and maintains sharpness and data integrity throughout the downscaling process, redefining the standard for high-quality image downscaling.

●Seamless Precision Stitching:

Kalo Scaling can divide input sources into multiple sub-images, process each independently, and stitch them seamlessly with precise alignment. The stitched result remains consistent with full-frame scaling, extending its application to more complex scenarios.

●3D Capability:

Supports high-quality image downscaling in 3D environments, satisfying the requirements of various 3D application scenarios.

Note: The above comparison results were obtained through practical testing of the three products under the same scaling reduction ratio. Detailed information regarding the test setup and conditions is provided in the following sections.

●Extreme Clarity:

Kalo Scaling achieves pixel-level precision while maintaining image sharpness and reducing noise. At a scaling ratio of 0.345, it demonstrates significant advantages in brightness and fine details.

●Full Detail Preservation:

Kalo Scaling ensures that fine features and edge information are preserved during downscaling, with smooth and continuous edges. Through refined pixel mapping and optimization strategies, even extreme scaling maintains high clarity and structural continuity, avoiding common issues such as blurring, edge breakage, and information loss.

Notably, at a scaling ratio of 0.1, Kalo Scaling excels in preserving edge details with near-perfect fidelity, outperforming high-end switchers in both detail integrity and overall brightness.

●Uniform Diagonal Lines:

Kalo Scaling preserves regular diagonal structures accurately without geometric distortion, enhancing visual consistency and delivering a smoother viewing experience.

●Clean Text Rendering:

When applied to text, Kalo Scaling significantly suppresses color fringing while maintaining sharp text edges and pure, accurate colors. By preserving fine details and minimizing edge bleeding and tonal degradation during downscaling, it delivers cleaner, crisper, and more visually refined text reproduction.

●Superior Anti-Aliasing:

Kalo Scaling is a carefully engineered downscaling algorithm that effectively suppresses aliasing artifacts and minimizes high-frequency detail loss. It helps reduce high-frequency distortion during downscaling while preserving edge sharpness and structural integrity, maintaining clean and detailed image reproduction even at aggressive scaling ratios. At a scaling ratio of 0.1, high-frequency aliasing is significantly reduced, resulting in a cleaner visual output with fewer visible artifacts.

●Periodic Luminance Variation in Lines:

Comparative testing with regular horizontal and vertical line patterns shows that Kalo Scaling produces consistent periodic luminance variations across the downscaled image. In the reference sample, the luminance distribution appears less uniform, with more pronounced light-dark variations across the line patterns. These differences provide a direct visual reference for evaluating luminance consistency in line-based downscaling scenarios.

2.Conclusion

Integrating high-fidelity downscaling, seamless stitching, 3D support, and high-speed multi-layer processing, Kalo Scaling is driving innovation in image processing technology and setting a new benchmark for the display industry. Whether for large-scale conferences, premium live events, or exhibitions, it enhances visual performance and delivers refined viewing experiences, ensuring every detail remains sharp and visually striking even at reduced scales.
